Warm Shimmery Eyes- A Festive Makeup Look

Hi all and happy Friday! We're five days away from Christmas, that is, yummy food and presents (if you have not opened them already). However, we must not let the Ham, Pastelles and Sorrel (for my trinis) make us forget the true meaning of Christmas.

Here's a bright day time look for this season. It consists of warm pinky/gold tones with some shimmer. Enjoy!

PRODUCT

Too Faced Natural Eye

Shades Used: Push up and Silk Teddy

TUTORIAL

STEPS

1. Use a warm pinkish/burgundy colour as your base.
2. Apply a medium bronze shadow to the lid.
3. Deepen the crease with more of the base colour, carrying it down to the lower lash line.
4. Apply a bright, shimmery pink/gold shadow to the tear duct area and along 1/4 of the lower lash line, as well as to the very center of the lid.
5. Use a black eyeliner pencil or gel liner to the top and bottom lash line and smudge for a softer look.
6. Curl lashes and apply mascara.

That's it! I hope this tutorial was easy to follow. For those of you who like a simpler, less dramatic eye look for the holidays, give this a try. It really brightens up the eye and looks very pretty. Don't forget to leave a comment letting me know your thoughts on this look and any constructive criticism. Thank you for viewing my blog!

Holiday Smokey Eye Tutorial- Naked 2 Palette

Hi all! So it's getting closer and closer to Christmas and although I had hopes of posting holiday tutorials much earlier in December, today is my first. I decided to begin with a smokey eye look since the holidays is a time filled with lots of night events like Christmas dinners and parties. With the exception of one, all eye shadows used are from the Naked 2 Palette. This look can be worn with both a nude lip or a more bold red lip colour (although I'm not that daring). Hope you enjoy this tutorial!

PRODUCT

Colours Used: Blackout, Busted and YDK

STEPS

1. Prep eyes by concealing them and applying a neutral base colour. This tutorial shows how to.
2. Apply a very deep matte brown shadow to the crease and blend very well, carrying the colour upward.
3. Apply a matte black shadow to the entire lid and blend into the crease colour.
4. Apply a dark shimmery brown colour on top of the black.
5. Highlight the inner corners of your eye with a light glittery shadow, also applying it along 1/4 of the bottom lash line and to the very center of the lid.
6. Finish the look with some black eyeliner and mascara.

ALL DONE!

I think this look is so gorgeous and I hope you try it out. Feel free to leave a comment below and share your thoughts. Remember to blend blend blend and you'll be good to go! Thank you!

Monthly Favourites - November 2013 + Mini Reviews

Hi all! We're heading into December and that means Christmasss (me stating the obvious). I wanted my blog to emanate that Christmas spirit, and even though my winter theme contradicts the two LOVELY seasons we experience in Trinidad, I like it a lot :) .

Today I'm sharing with you my favourites for the month of November. I actually don't do a favourites post every month since I usually don't have that much new products to talk about. However, this month I do! I basically grabbed my most used products of November and any others I absolutely love.

Onto my favourites!

MAKEUP

I'll first talk about the brushes, my Real Techniques stippling brush and Sephora airbrush concealer brush, both of which I use every time I apply makeup. I know they're dirty, sorry, but I use them all the time, so they don't stay clean very long (feel free to check out my brush cleaning routine here). Now, the stippling brush I use to create a flawless base with my foundation and it does an amazing job. It works well with my foundation to create both an even skin tone and a smooth finish. Then I go in with the concealer brush to cover up any blemishes or dark spots showing through, and so far this is the best brush I've used for that.

Since I was not that big on lips in the past I never invested in a lipliner. When I saw the NYX retractable ones I decided to give it a try. I loveeee (one e is just not enough) this colour! Its #16 Plum and it's the perfect colour for me as it matches well with most of my other lip colours. I've been enjoying wearing it alone though, with just a lip balm under to prevent it from being too dry. If you love plum colours like me, you'd very much enjoy this lip liner.

I'm pretty sure you all know about the Benefit They're Real mascara and how amazing it is, so it's no surprise its a favourite. Basically it does a fantastic job at lengthening and giving you fuller lashes. I also got compliments and questions when I used it a few times.

For cheeks, I have been loving two blushes, Smashbox Blush Rush in Heartbreak and NYX stick blush in #5 Tea Rose. When I want a perfect long lasting blush, especially when I have on a full face, I grab Heartbreak. I just looks really nice on my skin tone and goes with almost anything else I have on my face. It is also easy to blend and build on. However, for those natural faced days, Tea Rose does the trick. The creamy texture gives a more natural flush to the face and the colour is just so pretty.

Even though Mac's blush in Blunt is traditionally used for contouring, I use it on my eyes. Its a great matte brown colour that can be used alone or with many other colours to create a really pretty eye look. Definitely look at your other face products, like your blushes and bronzers, and try them as eye shadows. Aside from that, it is also a great contour colour.

EVERYTHING ELSE

I have naturally wavy/ curly hair that can get both oily and frizzy so I always look for hair products that can counteract that. In my last favourites I talked about the Suave Keratin Infusion conditioner which I still use and love and I pair it with the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Shampoo. Its a favourite because I dont have anything bad to say about it. It does a good job in making my hair feel clean and nice and I enjoy the smell.

So I can't be the only girl who hates having to shave their legs. It's just tiring and boring and you have to do it so often! These Gillette Venus shaving cartridges with olay are the bomb and make the task a little easier (I'm afraid I sound lazy). They're so creamy and nice and give a really precise, clean shave. I just wish they weren't so expensive, but I think its worth it.

My mom recently got me The "Wet" Brush...(wha?) Yeah, it's basically a brush to use on wet hair and detangles like a charm. This thing is also the bomb. I usually use a comb to detangle my wet hair and distribute conditioner throughout my hair when I wash it. This does a way way better job at detangling my hair. Plus it's just fun to use okay...Seriously though, if you have really hard to detangle hair when its wet, invest in this brush.

Finally, my last favourite is the Coach Poppy Citrine Blossom perfume. Really fun, fresh, citrus-y scent that I also got compliments on. If you don't usually like the fruity, sweet scents, try this one out.

That was longer than I expected but I hope you enjoyed nontheless. Let me know your favourite products of the month in the comments below, I'd be happy to read them. Thank you plenty for your time!

From Day To Night: A Makeup Look + Easy Winged Liner

Hello everyone! Today I was in the mood to do a full face of makeup and decided to blog about it. I have a lot of fun sharing with you the looks I come up with, so, this one is gonna be a tutorial/ makeup look/ day to night makeup...er... you'll understand. I did use a mixture of high end and drugstore makeup.

Quick side note: I usually buy my makeup at Superpharm or Total Care in Trinidad and all the high end makeup shown was purchased at both Ulta and Sephora when I was abroad. If you are looking for higher end makeup to buy in Trinidad, Total Care Pharmacy sells a decent amount and I'm always surprised when they have the latest makeup products. If you know other places in Trinidad that sells high end products (besides mac) let me know!

Onto the makeup looks!

PRODUCTS

Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder, Smashbox Blush Rush in Heartbreak, Benefit The Pore fessional, Make Up For Ever Pro HD Foundation, Maybelline NY Dream Bouncy Blush in #20 Peach Satin,  Revlon ColorStay Pressed Powder & L'Oreal True Match Super- Blendable Crayon Concealer

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara, Mac Lipstick in Amorous, Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette, Mac Powder Blush in Blunt, Revlon ColorStay Gel Eyeliner in Black, Rimmel London Lipgloss in Razzle Dazzle and Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in #090 Sweet Tart

DAY LOOK

The steps are pretty straightforward so I won't go into detail. I basically created a simple winged liner with a reddish brown colour blended in the crease (I used mac's blunt which is a blush but I love using it as an eye shadow). I finished off with some mascara and thats it!

For face makeup, I used my beauty blender to apply my foundation since it gives a flawless finish without it looking cakey or heavy. I applied a very light amount of bronzer and a creamy pink blush to keep the look fresh and natural. I finished off with a light pink lip colour and gloss. I also kept my hair natural and loose.

TRANSITION INTO NIGHT

To take this look into night, add some black eye shadow to the lids and blend well. Also, blend some of the same black shadow on the lower lash line. Using a black pencil liner, line your water line as well as tight line. Finally highlight your brow bone and tear duct area with a shimmery white shadow.

For your face, apply a deeper blush colour to your cheeks as well as a darker lip colour. Super easy right?

Night time look with updo

I had a lot of fun with this and I encourage you to try it out. Let me know if you enjoyed this post. Hopefully I inspired you to create your own fun day to night looks. The Falsies BIG EYES: A Review

We all know and love the original Maybelline NY The Falsies Mascara and now here's something new to try out. Maybelline's new The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara! I'm here to give you a review and demo of this product and I hope you enjoy!

PRODUCT:

Maybelline New York The Falsies BIG EYES Volum' Express (original formula)

 DEMO:

1st Coat- After one coat of this mascara my lashes are fairly separated. They are noticeably longer and slightly thicker than my natural lashes. I found my bottom lashes to be more evenly separated than the top. My lashes also kept its curl and were not heavy.

2nd Coat- My lashes are further lengthened on both top and bottom. I did notice my top lashes were starting to get spidery and I had to be extra careful with the second application as the formula dries very quickly. It also began to flake which frustrated me (hey I'm being honest here Maybelline).  However, my lashes still remained curled and light.

My Thoughts:

Overall this mascara is not bad, but it ain't GREAT either. Yes, in a sense my eyes do look bigger, but I get that look with most of the other mascaras I use. The formula isn't my favorite as I do prefer one that's more wet since it applies a lot better. This formula dries really quickly and as I mentioned earlier, flakes easily. I would recommend either applying a generous first coat alone, or, apply a second coat immediately after the first, on each eye, to diminish the chance of flaking. The mascara felt more or less lightweight and did not trouble my eyes (redness, watery eyes). It was also easy to remove, but keep in mind this is a non-waterproof formula.

The Wands

Not forgetting the design of the wands, I do appreciate the two different wands for the upper and lower lashes. The upper lash wand is on the bigger side and has a curved shape with fairly thick bristles. The lower lash wand is thinner and shorter, perfect size for the bottoms lashes, in my opinion, and does not sport a curved shape like the top, but is straight. I do prefer the bottom lash wand more than the top. I think if the top lash wand was simply a larger replicate of the bottom lash wand, I would have loved it.

Side Note

Although it has nothing to do with the actual product, am I the only one who dislikes the font on the mascara tube/bottle (what is it really)? I think they could have done a better job with that design as it looks a bit cheap. Otherwise, the packaging is fairly decent.

That's it for my review! I hope you enjoyed it and helped you in deciding whether to purchase this mascara or not. I would like to say my opinions are all honest and are all from my personal experience using this product. Just remember everyone will have different preferences and even though this mascara is not my favourite, it may be to someone else. Hope you enjoyed once again!

Wearable Copper Eyes: A Tutorial

Happy Friday everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful week and are all well. Someone special gave me this beautiful copper eye shadow and I just love it so much. This loose shadow is unbelievably pigmented and super bright! One swatch of this and the colour payoff is phenomenal. I immediately wanted to create a look with this, but also something that was wearable since this colour can be a little dramatic. I came up with this really easy and simple look that I think is appropriate for both day and night (depending on what face makeup and lips you match it with). Hope you enjoy!

PRODUCTS I USED:
Petite Belle by Zalan Eye Shimmer in Copper

Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo #104 Strawberry Fudge, L'Oreal's Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara in Black &   Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner in Black

LET'S GET STARTED:

Before applying eye shadow, prep your eyes for the best results
  1. Apply your copper eye shadow to the entire lid.
  2. Ensure the entire eyelid has an even application of the shadow
  3. Using some matte brown eye shadow and a fluffy brush, blend from the outer crease inward to diminish the harsh line and create a softer look.
  4. With a makeup remover wipe (or likewise) clean up any fall out and neaten edges.
  5. With an eyeliner of your choice, line your top lash line (the wing isn't necessary, it just became a routine with me)
  6. Line your water line
  7. Tight line (line the area under your upper eyelashes)
  8. Ensure you are satisfied with the look (i.e your liner is on point, your eye shadow is well blended & everything is nice and clean)
  9. Apply a shimmery highlight colour to the brow bone and tear duct area (I chose something with a gold/yellowish base)

Finish off with your favourite mascara!

That's it! Simple and easy right? If you enjoyed this I'd love your feedback in the comments below. Also if you have any questions or suggestions let me know!

Monthly Favourites! My July Loves + Dislikes

Hi all! I'm currently watching a marathon of Betty White's Off Their Rockers on Lifetime. The idea of the elderly pranking young people is just hilarious. It's the kind of stuff you'd find on YouTube, purely genius.

Well we're heading into August and is it just me or did July fly by so quickly? Something I look forward to at this time are monthly favourites, which is basically sharing your most loved beauty and even non-beauty items of that month. Today I'm going to share mine!

The lipsticks I've been loving the most are Revlon's Colorburst Lip Butter #090 Sweet Tart, Maybelline's Color Sensational #065 Hooked On Pink and Color Whisper #45 Who Wore It Red-er. Review

My favourite nail polish find was Revlon ColorStay Long Wear Nail Enamel #310 Vintage Rose.

For the entire month I've only been using the Dream Bouncy Blush By Maybelline in #20 Peach Satin. It gives this gorgeous glowy finish which I love and the peachy colour works perfect for any skin tone.

I think Maybelline's The Rocket Volum' Express is a popular one with many. Mostly because it does what it says by giving great volume and even length. I love how this mascara does not clump or weigh down my lashes. I'd definitely re-purchase this.

Probably one of my most favoured makeup items of the month and possibly the year is L'Oreal's True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer. Mine is in the shade medium/deep W6-7-8 and it's basically at its end! I cannot find it anywhere to re-purchase so I'm sad about that because it's the only concealer that works perfectly to hide my blemishes. It is really creamy and super blendable (no wonder it's called that) and I love the retractable feature (no sharpening!).

I've never used Suave Professionals hair products before until someone told me about how surprisingly great they work. After trying the Keratin Infusion Smoothing Conditioner, I'm in love. This stuff is amazing for such an affordable price! I have naturally wavy/curly hair and after my first time using this my hair was both visibly and touchably soft and smooth. I did not even get these kind of results with Moroccan Argan Oil Products!

I love cleansing wipes for removing makeup and this Exfoliating Renewal Wet Cleansing Towelette from Ponds is amazing. It easily removes face and eye makeup (although I swear by eye makeup remover solutions for a thorough clean) and contains these tiny beads which takes care of the exfoliation and has the most amazing citrus scent.

I never leave out toner from my everyday skincare regime and this Blemish Treating Astringent from Bioré is great! It leaves a tingly sensation which I love in astringents and contains Salicylic acid which I'm sure everyone with acne would be familiar with. This formula is also oil-free which is a plus.

Not every product you buy you're going to love and this was the case with Herbal Essences' Hydralicious Reconditioning Shampoo and Conditioner. I usually love Herbal Essences but this one did not do it for me. I bought it because I wanted to try something new and the smell was great, however after using it I really did not like it. My hair did not feel thoroughly clean after shampooing as it was WAY too reconditioning (at least the name does not lie) and I felt it unnecessary to use the conditioner. Even after finishing off with the conditioner and rinsing, my hair felt a little heavy and did not smell like the lovely scent from the bottle (which is my major attraction with Herbal Essences). Overall a huge disappointment for me.

That concludes my favourites for the month of July. Let me know what are yours in the comments and also which products of mine you may have and enjoy. Also, have you tried the Herbal Essences' Shampoo and Conditioner? How did it work for you? Have a good one!

P.S Thanks mom for the beautiful post card!

Thank you for your time
